Barcelona maestro hails Joan Garcia after Rayo Vallecano win: ‘He is incredible’

Barcelona continue to march steadily towards the La Liga title, and while the headlines often belong to the attackers, it is becoming increasingly clear that their success is being built on a far more balanced foundation.

At the heart of that lies Joan Garcia, a player who may not grab the spotlight with goals but has become absolutely vital in securing results.

Once again, the goalkeeper delivered a commanding performance against Rayo Vallecano, ensuring Barcelona walked away with another crucial three points.

After the match, Pedri was quick to highlight Garcia’s importance, something that Ronald Araujo also emphasised

Speaking about the goalkeeper’s influence both on and off the pitch, Pedri said, ”He’s incredible. He makes great saves and is also indispensable with his footwork.

“He’s an amazing guy; I consider him one of my best friends,” emphasised the midfielder.

Analysing the match

Beyond individual performances, Pedri also pointed towards a key tactical improvement that has played a decisive role in Barcelona’s success this season.

The team’s effectiveness from set pieces has grown significantly, giving them another way to break down stubborn opposition.

Reflecting on this development, he explained, “It’s good that we’ve improved on set pieces this season. We’ve won games with goals from corner kicks,” said Pedri.

That strength proved crucial once again, as Barcelona managed to secure the win through a well-executed corner routine.

“It’s another weapon in attack; we’ve scored some goals from corner kicks, and today we won the game that way,” he added.

Facing Rayo Vallecano

The match, however, was far from straightforward, as Rayo Vallecano pushed Barcelona to their limits with an aggressive and high-intensity approach.

Pedri acknowledged the difficulties his side faced in controlling the game, especially against such energetic opposition.

“They play with a lot of intensity, have very fast players up front, and never stop making runs. They cause problems for every team.

“We weren’t able to control the game; we needed to have more possession.”

There was also fatigue to contend with, as Barcelona are on a demanding schedule that includes European commitments.

Despite that, Pedri said that excuses are not part of the team’s mindset at this stage of the campaign.

“You can feel it in your legs after a Champions League match, but we can’t make excuses—we have to keep racking up points. There’s just one more matchday left,” he concluded.
