Nate Landwehr reveals devastating tragedy ahead of UFC 310 showdown with Doo Ho Choi

Nate Landwehr has shown the true measure of his character as he gears up for an intriguing featherweight clash with Doo Ho Choi at UFC 310.

The pair will collide on the undercard of Alexandre Pantoja’s flyweight title defense against Japanese star Kai Asakura at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

Of all the fighters on this Saturday’s card, though, Nate Landwehr and Doo Ho Choi are perhaps the most evenly matched, with both seasoned veterans looking to stay in the win column.

But still, regardless of the outcome, Landwehr is likely to have one thing on his mind when he steps into the octagon.

Nate Landwehr’s wife suffered a miscarriage ahead of his fight with Doo Ho Choi

Landwehr has produced a series of compelling displays in recent years, winning Performance of the Night in three of his last four UFC victories.

And yet, while he will always provide MMA fans with great value for money, the 36-year-old’s career took a mini hit when he lost to Dan Ige towards the end of last year.

But since then, ‘The Train’ has responded with a stunning first-round finish over Jamall Emmers, putting himself back in the shop window for another huge opportunity.

Choi, on the other hand, has won just one of his last five outings, with three of his defeats earning him the coveted Fight of the Night award.

But while the two combatants are likely to engage in a fan-friendly dustup, Landwehr has been forced to contend with the devastating news of his wife’s miscarriage throughout his training camp.

“It’s just like a fight, man,” Landwehr told Middle Easy. “You’ve just got to keep fighting. We had to go through IVF, so they’ve got to go in, they’ve got to strip my wife’s eggs, and they fertilize them.

“So we ended up with X amount of embryos that were viable. We had five boy embryos and one girl embryo.

“We tried to put the girl in a little bit ago. She attached, and she just didn’t quite make it. Her name was going to be June Marie.”

Who will steal the show at UFC 310?

Given their recent history of bonuses, Landwehr and Choi are set to steal the show at UFC 310, putting on an all-action battle for the fans.

That said, the card will feature several more fighters, too, who have potential to make a monumental impact on the night.

The welterweight matchup between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Garry, for instance, is set to deliver a pulsating clash of styles as well.

Elsewhere on the card, formidable heavyweight contenders Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov could also define the night with a thrilling back and forth spectacle.
