Beloved former UFC champion Sean Strickland has shredded Jake Paul in his latest social media rant.
Paul is set to face Mike Tyson tomorrow night in a controversial heavyweight showdown, just months after the boxing icon turned 58-years-old. And Strickland, who has feuded with Paul in the past, reckons it is a tasteless cash grab from the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Strickland is infamous for his lengthy and often offensive tirades on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram. He has been banned on multiple occasions for his words, and often brands himself as some sort of free speech advocate with his outspoken use of social media.

Sean Strickland tears into Jake Paul over Mike Tyson fight
After watching a few trailers for different Netflix offerings, including Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson, former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland took to X to make his feelings heard. The brash California native is not a fan of seeing an aging Tyson compete, and has always had a beef with Paul.
“@jakepaul is a clown,” Strickland wrote. “Your ability to make money off stupid people is impressive but being rich won’t buy you dignity. You’re fighting a 60 year old man who is just trying to make a dollar by risking his life.. scum bag.”
Strickland then then tagged in his friend and 17-0 cruiserweight contender Rob Safar, adding: “Here ya go.. JK you don’t fight boxers.” He is referring to the common misconception in boxing circles that Paul hasn’t fought a ‘real boxer’ yet, despite defeating Andre August and Ryan Bourland.
Sean Strickland believes Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson should be illegal
The ex-middleweight champion didn’t stop his social media tirade with just one tweet, instead responding to fans and making further slams of the fight. He even claimed that the fight, which is professionally sanctioned in Texas, should be called off.
Strickland claimed that Mike Tyson’s terrifying ulcer flare-up that saw their initial date pushed back took place just a month ago. However, it actually happened in May, and he has since been cleared by doctors to return to training and compete.
“You’re fighting a 60 year old,” Strickland wrote in response to a fight trailer Paul had shared. “Are you a f***ing idiot? This should be illegal… The man had a medical emergency a month before this because he’s too f***ing old. F***ing clown.”
Jake Paul and Sean Strickland went back-and-forth over a sparring session
The feud between Paul and Strickland dates back to a sparring session the pair were discussing earlier this year. After a social media exchange, the boxer offered to fly his UFC rival to Puerto Rico on a private jet to come and spar him in his fight camp.
However Strickland claims that contractual obligations to the MMA promotion meant that he was not allowed to spar with influencers. This is despite him being caught on video brutalising streamer Sneako during a viral clip.
“Shawn [Sean] Strickland you’re embarrassing for trying to stop sneako like that,” Paul posted on X, formerly Twitter. “You weren’t even able to drop someone with no experience while going all out. You’re a horrid boxer that only picks on inexperienced people..
“I’ll fly you to PR and we can fight on camera… if you win I’ll give you $1 million (half your net worth). But if you get dropped you have to get ‘Betr’ tattooed on you. DM me. But just like paddy [Pimblett] I’m guessing you’ll find a way to run.”
Strickland, who famously spars all comers at his gym in Las Vegas, did not take Paul up on the offer, instead branding the influencer a ‘cancer’. “I want to conclude this, I want you all to understand the phenomenon that is Jake,” Strickland said in a lengthy response.
“You’re a professional troll, you fight retired small MMA fighters because you’re a troll but the worst part of it all is that you’re a cancer. You inspire people to accomplish nothing, to be nothing. You inspire people to be trolls because you were successful at it.
“Jake Paul you might be rich but you’re not man, you byproduct of society that has fallen. Your trolls will rally around you and be inspired to be like you but understand one thing, you and your troll army are not my equals.
“Enjoy your virtual world with the understanding that you’re a cancer on this country. Money will never buy you dignity. Enjoy.”
