As we approach the final phase of the campaign, Tottenham Hotspur is the club on everyone’s radar right now, as the North London giants are facing the potential risk of relegation.
With just four matches remaining, Spurs are facing an uphill battle and are currently two points away from safety. Their potential relegation could open up a myriad of opportunities for other clubs across Europe to sign a slew of gifted players on a cut-price deal.
Barcelona monitoring five Spurs players
According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona are among the clubs monitoring the situation at Spurs and are keeping tabs on at least five players.
The club are particularly looking at the defensive duo of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, two players who could significantly bolster the club’s backline.
Van de ven, in particular, could be an interesting pick thanks to the Dutchman’s ability to play out from the back. His status as a left-footed centre-back also makes him an ideal defensive partner for Pau Cubarsi.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are also keeping tabs on Xavi Simons and Lucas Bergvall, who was close to joining the Catalans a few years ago but it was Tottenham that won the race.
Bergvall has since struggled with injuries and a lack of game-time. But his ceiling remains high and he could be an interesting option for Barcelona in the middle of the park.
Simons, meanwhile, is the obvious star at Tottenham Hotspur and as a former member of the La Masia academy, he could be an excellent option to bolster Barcelona’s creative department.
Finally, the Catalans are also looking at the possibility of signing Pedro Porro, especially if the club end up parting ways with Jules Kounde, a player they are open to selling at the right price this coming summer.
