FC Barcelona have officially announced the signing of English teenage prodigy Ajay Tavares from Norwich City.
“Agreement for the incorporation of the player Ajay Tavares to the Juvenil A of Barça from Norwich City,” the club’s statement on social media read.
The teenage winger signed his contract with Barça today after completing his medical, in the presence of Jose Ramon Alexanco, the Blaugrana’s Director of Youth Football.

A 16-year-old prospect, Tavares is a versatile operator capable of playing on the right and left flanks.
Despite having turned 16 recently, he had already become a part of the Under-18 team at Norwich City, competing with players older than him. He is a part of the England U-17 setup as well.
A deal for Tavares had been in the works for a while now, and the fact that he holds a Portuguese passport allowed Barcelona to sign him right away, instead of having to wait until he turns 18 years old to get him.
As mentioned in the statement, Tavares will be a part of the Barça Juvenil A team, although it would not come as a surprise to see him play for Barça Atletic in the near future.
