Having arrived on loan from Manchester United in the summer, Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a productive campaign so far at FC Barcelona.
The 28-year-old forward has 23 direct goal contributions in Blaugrana colours from 34 matches, proving himself to be a valuable member of Hansi Flick’s team.
Given how well things have gone so far, Barcelona intend to sign Rashford on a permanent transfer in the summer, while the player, too, is keen on staying put at the club.
However, as previously reported, the Catalans do not wish to pay the €30 million transfer fee that was previously agreed upon between the two clubs and are trying to negotiate a lower amount.
Manchester United will not move
But, according to a report from Sky Sports journalist Danyal Khan, Manchester United have no intention of renegotiating the €30 million fee for Rashford with Barcelona.
The update makes it clear that there are no talks taking place between the two clubs regarding a lower fee for the attacker and the Red Devils will not entertain such a possibility in the future either.
As far as the Premier League club is concerned, there is no change in the original situation and Barcelona will have to pay the €30 million fee that was previously agreed upon if they wish to sign Rashford permanently.
While the attacker’s insistence on wanting to continue at Barça does give them some leverage, Manchester United might be open to the idea of retaining Rashford in case the agreement is not upheld, especially if Michael Carrick becomes the permanent manager.
So, it will be interesting to see how Barcelona decide to proceed with the situation in the weeks to come.
