Dillon Danis has been warned by a former UFC interim champion in his division that he will never make it to the big leagues.
The renowned BJJ black belt won his MMA comeback on Saturday night when he submitted Warren Spencer within 15 seconds. He had been out of action for six years prior, but has now immediately re-entered the sport’s zeitgeist.
However, Colby Covington isn’t so sure that the New Yorker will be joining him in the ranks of the welterweight division any time soon.

Dillon Danis told he won’t ever make it to UFC
Dillon Danis’ victory against Spencer instantly went viral on social media, garnering attention from fans all over who might have forgotten just how impressive his grappling skills are. He is now eyeing a number of future fights, but it’s unclear what is next.
And Colby Covington is not a big fan of Danis, insisting that no matter what he will never join the ranks of the UFC. In his own right, Covington is a divisive character similar to Danis, but has competed to world level in the promotion and even won an interim title in 2018.
“We are going to talk about Dillon Danis,” Covington told fans on his YouTube channel. “Even untrained bouncers can take down Danis and have their way with them. He is always crying to get in the UFC. You suck, you are never getting in the UFC. So go get a real job, chump”.
Dillon Danis has multiple options for next MMA outing
There are many options now for Danis as he moves into the next stage of his MMA comeback. Just on Saturday alone he faced off with both Tony Ferguson and Eddie Hall, although it seems the latter is more likely under the Misfits banner.
Hall has committed to dropping over 60lb in order to make a weight under 300lb and create an openweight contest. However, Danis wants him to go all the way down to 265lb; the MMA heavyweight limit, which may be inconceivable for a strongman who once weighed over 450lb.
Meanwhile, the Ferguson fight was already booked for earlier this year under the GFL banner. And it could very well be made again, even if the pair are now seemingly quite friendly.
