WOW: Islam Makhachev reveals what went wrong before his brutal war with Alexander Volkanovski
In an interview with MMA Junkie Radio, he explained: “I lose couple of times, not MMA, this is combat sambo. I’m 17-years-old, my opponent was 24. I’m young guy; I lost because the judges gave it to him.
“After I come home, my head pain, my arm almost broken, my left and right leg were in pain, but in the morning, I woke up, and I go to training, because I know everyone in the world is training.
“For me, it’s very important to push myself hard. I cannot run, spar or wrestle, but I was training a little bit and then go home.
“When I lose, it’s very motivational. Before, I have no discipline, but at 17, when I began my combat sambo career, I understood this.”
