Barcelona young forward will not leave in January amid widespread loan interest

Pau Victor was one of the only two first-team summer signings that Barcelona made this year, with the young forward being signed permanently from Girona after impressing on loan last season with Barça Atletic.

The 22-year-old attacker was one of the standouts for Barcelona during pre-season as he demonstrated his goalscoring instinct, sharp link-up play and work-rate, establishing himself as an alternative to Robert Lewandowski in the No. 9 role.

Going nowhere

However, Pau Victor has not featured as regularly as he would have liked, prompting some interest from clubs in La Liga and Europe, according to SPORT.

Indeed, there are a number of teams who would be willing to sign the Spanish attacker on loan for the remainder of the season when the January transfer window is open.

Despite the interest, Victor will continue at Barcelona. He is clear that he will end up with more participation in a season that will be long, and manager Hansi Flick is also very satisfied with him.

Until now, Victor has played 11 times for the Blaugrana this term, accumulating 174 minutes and scoring one goal. The top form of Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha has meant that minutes have been hard to come by for the 22-year-old.

Even though he has not played as much as he would have liked, the youngster will not listen to offers, at least, this season and neither will Barcelona. Furthermore, Flick trusts him and wishes to retain him.

So, as things stand, there will be no mid-season loan departure for Victor. Instead, if any forward were to leave in the winter, it would be Ansu Fati, who has struggled to make an impact and is attracting interest from La Liga clubs.
