Marc-Andre ter Stegen continues to train with FC Barcelona as he waits for the final details of his loan move to Ajax to be completed.
According to MARCA, the German goalkeeper took part in Monday’s double training session under Hansi Flick at the club’s training ground, maintaining his fitness while the last administrative steps of the transfer are finalized.
Loan deal set to be announced soon
Ter Stegen is expected to spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Ajax, where he will reunite with head coach Michel.
Although the 34-year-old remains under contract with Barcelona until June 2028, all parties are understood to have reached an agreement in principle.
The only outstanding issues involve a handful of financial details between the player and Barcelona.
The agreement with the Dutch club has already been settled, and the move is expected to become official within the next few days, potentially on Tuesday or Wednesday, the report confirms.
Staying fit and ready
Until the transfer is completed, Ter Stegen continues to work alongside the rest of the Barcelona first-team squad in pre-season training.
He participated fully in Monday’s double training session led by Flick at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, ensuring he remains in peak condition ahead of his new challenge in the Eredivisie.
After enduring multiple injuries last season, Ter Stegen is determined to arrive in Amsterdam in the best possible physical condition.
His move will reunite him with Michel, who previously brought him to Girona during the 2025/26 winter transfer window.
That spell, however, was disrupted by injury, with the goalkeeper making very few appearances before eventually undergoing surgery. Both player and coach will now hope for better fortune at Ajax.
More business still to come
Ter Stegen’s departure is expected to be one of several outgoing deals Barcelona hopes to finalise in the coming days.
The sporting department also continues to evaluate the futures of players such as Roony Bardghji and Marc Casado, with further changes to the squad anticipated before the transfer window closes.
