FC Barcelona are heading into a very busy transfer market in every sense. The Catalans are working on several operations aimed at strengthening the squad, and one of the sporting department’s priorities is to bring in young talent with long-term potential.
In that regard, the Catalans have been following Club Brugge teenage winger Jesse Bisiwu for quite some time.
He is considered one of the biggest prospects in Belgian football and a player who is highly regarded at Barça.
Club Brugge reject Barcelona’s first offer
Now, according to SPORT, Club Brugge have rejected Barcelona’s first formal offer for Bisiwu.
The Belgian club believe that the amount presented by the Blaugrana is clearly insufficient to allow one of the greatest jewels of their academy to leave. At this moment, they consider the proposal to be far below the figures they have internally established.
At Club Brugge, they are very clear that the value of the 18-year-old left winger is much higher than what Barcelona are currently willing to pay.
Barcelona have laid the groundwork
Bisiwu is considered one of the most promising young talents in Belgian football. A speedy, powerful winger with an eye for a goal, the teenager has attracted strong interest from Barcelona.
The Catalans have spent months closely monitoring his development and sporting director Deco even travelled to Belgium in December to meet with the player’s family.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s head of scouting, Joao Amaral, has also held several meetings with the player’s entourage over recent months.
Representatives from Barcelona and executives from Club Brugge held face-to-face discussions during the UEFA Youth League Final Four.
Following that, approximately two weeks ago, the Catalans sent their first official proposal, which has now been rejected by Club Brugge, who remain convinced that the player’s value is significantly higher than what was reflected in the offer.
As things currently stand, everything suggests that Barcelona will return with a new proposal in the coming weeks
