Barcelona sporting director Deco continues his structured plan to secure the futures of the core players in the team.
Having closed the extensions of players like Pedri, Gavi, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Ronald Araujo, among others, throughout the year, Deco secured the renewal of Frenkie de Jong earlier this month.
Eric Garcia, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is set to become the next player to sign a new deal, with an agreement believed to be imminent.
Ferran Torres next on Deco’s agenda
Now, according to Alfredo Martinez on SPORT, following the completion of Eric Garcia’s contract renewal, Ferran Torres has become the next key case on Deco’s agenda.
While Garcia’s renewal was the most urgent, as his contract expires in June 2026, Deco and the coaching staff also consider Ferran’s continuity a strategic priority.
Thus, once the defender’s deal is officially sealed, discussions with the Spanish forward will formally begin.

Ferran’s current contract runs until June 30, 2027, making him one of the next major renewals on the club’s timeline.
Other players with expiring contracts, such as Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen, are not being addressed for now, as Barcelona are not planning to extend them at this stage.
Both sides keen to continue partnership
Ferran has repeatedly expressed his commitment to Barcelona, and the club values him as a strategic attacking asset.
The 25-year-old forward’s steady improvement in recent seasons — contributing both goals and work rate — has solidified his place in the squad.
Within the sporting department, Ferran is viewed as a versatile forward capable of filling the No. 9 role when needed.
He is expected to compete directly with the eventual successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose replacement Deco plans to secure in the upcoming summer transfer window.
