Andrew Tate’s fighting return takes step forward with latest Misfits Boxing update

Andrew Tate could be within touching distance of a ring return after being named in the Misfits Boxing pound-for-pound rankings.

Conflicting reports emerged last week with Ariel Helwani claiming that controversial influencer Tate was due to be announced as fighting with the promotion imminently. The BBC later reported from a DAZN source that such a deal was not on the table.

Multiple sources have indicated to Bloody Elbow that the former is more likely, and it seems that Misfits Boxing have begun to tease an appearance this afternoon. The promotion shared a graphic of their pound-for-pound top ten, which is topped by Darren Till, with Tate at number ten.

Andrew Tate added to Misfits Boxing top ten rankings

This afternoon, Misfits Boxing released a brand new ‘pound for pound top ten’ following Saturday night’s pay-per-view event in Manchester. After knocking out Luke Rockhold, Darren Till cemented his spot ahead of KSI and Tommy Fury at number one.

However, the most interesting addition to the list came right at the bottom as Andrew Tate, a non-bouter by Misfits terms, came in at number ten. As a former kickboxing world champion and MMA fighter who defeated UFC-calibre opposition, he is likely above many of the celebrity boxers in the promotion.

However, he has yet to test himself in the Misfits Boxing ring and hasn’t boxed since his youth. His last kickboxing bout was in 2020, at which point he was more or less finished after suffering eye issues during his later kickboxing days.

Conflicting reports emerge about Andrew Tate’s Misfits Boxing future

According to Helwani’s report, the official announcement of a fight and opponent was due as early as Saturday’s event, although that never came to pass. Till teased that he might face Till, but noted that it may not be a fair matchup during the post-fight press conference.

However, hours later a DAZN source told BBC that the fight was unlikely, with the report saying “that no talks are taking place and no announcement is planned for this weekend.” Ultimately, no announcement was made.

Tate is currently knee-deep in legal issues, but has been training regularly since being allowed to leave Romania back in February.
