One fighter hopes to make an instant turnaround to announce himself on the UFC roster.
A lot of predictions are split on Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev which headlines this weekend’s UFC 319 event in Chicago.
Featuring one of the biggest fights of the year at the top of the card, August 16 already looks set to be a big night.
During fight week, Dana White’s Contender Series returned to the UFC Apex for the first episode of a new season where White was critical of some of the performances.
One of the competitors that did impress the boss and the matchmakers laid down a marker immediately after the fight, which he claims the promotion is already working on.

Baysangur Susurkaev says he asked the UFC to book him a fight in Chicago this weekend
Baysangur Susurkaev, who trains with Khamzat Chimaev, won a UFC contract on Tuesday night and emerged as the star of the first episode.
Despite taking the fight on short notice, the undefeated prospect delivered a sickening body kick finish against Murtaza Talha which Dana White was incredibly thankful for following some lacklustre fights.
Another aspect of his performance that was sure to go down well with White and the matchmakers was Susurkaev’s willingness to jump right back in at the earliest available opportunity.
Having put up a post on his Instagram story where he labelled the new signing a ‘killer’, White also stated that UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard was already looking to book the 24-year-old on the next available card.
In a post on Instagram, Susurkaev outlined that he specifically pitched UFC 319 in Chicago to the promotion’s higher ups, confirming that he will be in attendance this weekend at the United Center.
“To everyone who was wondering what Dana and I were talking about, and why I showed 4 fingers, I asked him to give me a fight in one shot with ‘Borz’ in 4 days. He agreed and then said that they are already looking for an opponent, so, tomorrow I will fly to Chicago, we will see.”

UFC 319 already looks full but that doesn’t mean they won’t make an exception
If there’s one thing that Dana White and the matchmakers love to hear, it’s fighters that are wanting to compete as often as possible.
This is one of the reasons why Khamzat Chimaev became a huge star for the promotion as soon as he arrived inside the Octagon, fighting twice in ten days to emerge as an incredibly exciting signing.
13 fights are already set for UFC 319 this weekend, which makes it hard to imagine that they will find a spot for Baysangur Susurkaev, let alone finding him a suitable opponent on such short notice.
That being said, in terms of getting off on the right foot in the UFC, Susurkaev’s call to fight in Chicago and make the trip over is a very good move.
