On September 13, Canelo Alvarez will work alongside Dana White for the first time.
The UFC president will be promoting the Mexican star’s huge super fight against Terence Crawford at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Alvarez made it clear that he never had a feud with White, though he has had to go head-to-head with the UFC on several occasions.
There was even one occasion where White chose to watch Alvarez’s fight while sitting cage-side for a title fight at Madison Square Garden.
It was on this same night that the UFC boss was quick to dismiss the potential for any kind of crossover fight.

Dana White made it clear to Kamaru Usman that he shouldn’t be pursuing a fight with Canelo Alvarez
In 2021, Kamaru Usman reigned as the dominant welterweight champion and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.
‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ had mentioned Canelo Alvarez’s name on several occasions, talking about a crossover matchup between two fighters that were at the very top of their games.
UFC 268 saw Usman record his final defense of the title, beating Colby Covington in a rematch at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The performance earned the defending champion some high praise from Dana White at the post-fight press conference.
“If Usman doesn’t exist, Colby Covington is the champion here. Usman is just, this guy is the best ever. He’s the best welterweight of all time. He is on his way to possible GOAT status.”
However, when White was asked about Usman’s callouts and social media back-and-forth’s with Alvarez, he quickly shut down any talk about a fight between them having just seen what the Mexican star did to Caleb Plant earlier on in the night.
“I watched the Canelo fight tonight. You don’t want to fight Canelo. You don’t want to fight Canelo. Come on man, let’s stop this s—. If Canelo wants to come over here, let’s do it. You don’t want to box Canelo.”

Kamaru Usman and Canelo Alvarez spoke about their potential fight several years later
Last year, Kamaru Usman and Canelo Alvarez got to speak about their previous feud when the boxing star appeared on the Pound 4 Pound Podcast.
‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ looked to clear the air by addressing the “elephant in the room”, explaining that anything he ever said about Alvarez was never personal.
“You were in a spot where you were just dominating everybody to where the question was being asked ‘Who else can challenge this guy’ and at that moment, I threw my hand up like ‘Let me at least give him a different look’.”
Alvarez responded by agreeing with Usman’s comments, remarking that both men were on top of their respective sports at the time.
“Nah, no hard feelings. I think this is that beautiful [thing about] sport, you were the best in your sport, I’m the best in my sport and I respect that… We’re never going to know [who would’ve won] because we never made the fight.”
