When Barcelona announced their final squad for their La Liga opener against RCD Mallorca, there was one glaring absentee: Roony Bardghji.
The young Swede, who joined from Copenhagen earlier this summer, was one of the highlights for Barcelona’s pre-season.
The youngster made quite the impact in training while even scoring on his unofficial debut for Barcelona, leading many to believe that he will instantly become a senior-team player starting first season.
Why did Bardghji not feature in squad vs Mallorca?
Even though Bardghji is not yet registered as a senior team player for Barcelona, it was thought that the attacker was registered for the reserve team, as listed on the RFEF website.
A registration in the reserve team would have theoretically made Bardghji eligible to feature at least on the squad against Mallorca.
But as reported by SPORT, it appears Bardghij’s registration in the reserve team is not yet fully complete, though the club have ample time as Barça Atletic do not begin their campaign until September.

When will Barcelona register Bardghij?
Currently fresh from the registrations of Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia, Barcelona are trying to complete the remaining registration cases.
That means the club’s priority will be to resolve Wojciech Szczesny and Gerard Martin’s registrations. Once that is resolved, the club will see if they have enough margin to register Bardghji as well.
If not, the club will rely on additional departures this summer to help them lower the salary bill, with players like Oriol Romeu and Hector Fort slated to depart.
A return to a 1:1 rule could also go a long way in helping them register Bardghji, but it may not happen overnight.
While Barcelona are hopeful of registering the young Swede sooner rather than later, it won’t be surprising to see the player missing a few matches before being eligible to play for the team.
