Dana White insists ‘nothing is holding up’ Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall after shutting down $30million rumor

Following his title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, Jon Jones hinted at potentially retiring despite calls for him to unify the title against interim champ, Tom Aspinall.

There was initially a lot of controversy surrounding Jon Jones‘ title defense against Stipe Miocic considering the fact that Miocic had been out of action for over three years.

Despite that, Jones went on to finish the former champion in the third round of their UFC 309 main event and Miocic subsequently retired from the sport.

‘Bones’ also hinted at retirement after he was told by Dana White that he wouldn’t be able to fight superstar, Alex Pereira next but seemingly quickly changed his mind.

Dana White insists nothing is holding up potential Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight

After the UFC boss reiterated that if Jones does decide to continue fighting he will need to fight interim champion, Tom Aspinall, the current heavyweight king claimed he will need ‘F*** money’ to fight the Brit.

Despite that, White provided a positive update at the end of last year, claiming he is ‘100% confident’ that they will make the fight between Jones and Aspinall.

And with that, UFC icon and commentator, Joe Rogan claimed that Jones was demanding $30m to fight Aspinall, which he later stated was incorrect information after he was pulled up by White.

Following Rogan’s recent misinformation, the UFC boss has once again provided an update on the potential fight between Jones and Aspinall, claiming that nothing is holding it up and they are in negotiations.

“We’re in the works, we’re talking on it, I mean, I’ve said that I am very confident that fight happens this year,” White told Jim Rome.

“Nothing’s holding it up it’s just a matter of getting it done. You know, this stuff is not as easy to put these types of fights together as people think they are. They take time, but we’ll get it done,” he confidently updated.

Dana White also provides an update on Conor McGregor’s potential 2025 UFC return

Last year, the promotion was hoping for the return of their biggest star, Conor McGregor but after he withdrew from his scheduled UFC 303 return against Michael Chandler, they seemingly lost hope in that prospect.

With it now having been over three years since the Irishman last stepped foot in the UFC Octagon, White is hopeful that 2025 will be the year ‘The Notorious’ returns and has suggested he may return in the fall.

That is even though McGregor has been continuously linked to a potential boxing fight against both Logan Paul and KSI more recently, with White claiming those fights will not happen.

“Hopefully Conor McGregor returns in the fall of this year,” White said to Pardon My Take.
