Jake Paul’s viral clip making fun of his weight gain became the most viewed reel on Instagram this year.
The controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer beat out competition from the likes of Conor McGregor and Cristiano Ronaldo to land the most viral moment of the year. In his video, Paul was making fun of comments surrounding the weight he had to put on in order to fight Mike Tyson.
While Paul only boasts 28.7million followers to McGregor’s 47million and Ronaldo’s 646million, he was able to hit virality on a number of occasions. He even landed second place on the list with another video showing his arrival to the Tyson fight.

Jake Paul hits big with most viewed Instagram reel of 2024
It was one of the biggest years of Jake Paul’s career in 2024 as he continued his boxing journey with three major fights. He kicked off the year with a knockout of 17-2 Ryan Bourland before announcing that he would be facing Mike Tyson over the summer.
However, that Tyson fight was rescheduled when the former heavyweight champion suffered an ulcer flare-up. Instead, he faced Mike Perry, knocking him out and moving forward to the Tyson bout, which he won by unanimous decision.
And all the while, he maintained his massive social media presence as he continued to pump out viral moments. Perhaps the most noteworthy came when he was slapped by ‘Iron Mike’ at their final weigh-in, which was covered in almost every major outlet around the world.
However, he actually had three videos that toppled that one for popularity. He tipped over 300million on three separate occasions, firstly showing himself enjoying a vacation after his win over Perry, before again doing it with his entrance to the Tyson fight.
But the biggest hit was his viral video where he donned a fat suit with all of his trademark tattoos and appeared to tuck into a massive McDonald’s meal. The clip was viewed over 340million times, making it number one for the year on Instagram reels.
Jake Paul could face Conor McGregor next year as talks begin
And while Paul took victory over McGregor in the social media realm this year, it appears he could finally get his wish of a fight in 2025. The Irishman has claimed to have made a ‘preliminary agreement’ to face Jake’s brother Logan Paul in India next year, but Jake’s name is still reportedly in the mix.
Despite hoax reports of a $500million purse deal for Logan vs McGregor, Bloody Elbow understands that reports of a potential Jake fight that were made this month are still accurate. The main issue appears to stem from Most Valuable Promotions not wanting to negotiate without direct UFC involvement.
After McGregor’s initial proclamation that he has agreed to fight Logan, Jake took to X to give his take, writing: “Now it all makes sense why Conor McGregor and his management team have been desperately trying to get MVP to negotiate for a fight between us.
“As we told them them privately & I’m now saying it publicly… The only way we’re willing to explore me vs Conor in a pro boxing / mma fight is if Dana White / UFC are at the table directly or make it clear they are ok with discussions. Conor is washed. Needs the Paul’s. Logan by however he wants.”
