Jake Paul and Mike Tyson competed in what has gone down as the most-viewed boxing match in modern history.
Despite the controversy that surrounded Mike Tyson‘s professional boxing comeback against Jake Paul, the colossal fight between the two has broken modern viewership records.
Netflix announced this past Tuesday that the recent event from the AT&T Stadium garnered over 108 million live viewers globally, making it the most-viewed boxing match in modern history, since Muhammad Ali.
Jake Paul responds to rumors that he made $90m for his record-breaking fight
Although the fight was highly controversial because of the staggering 31-year age gap, the two were assumed to be making an astronomical amount of money, despite that not being the main reason for ‘Iron Mike’s’ comeback.
The daughter of the aforementioned, Ali, claimed that Ali would’ve been mortified at the amount of money Tyson and Paul made from their eight-round fight.
With the event being promoted by Most Valuable Promotion’s, his own promotion, ‘The Problem Child’ was set to make the biggest payday of lucrative his career thus far.
Despite that, the 27-year-old has responded to rumors that he made a staggering $90m from the fight, whilst being interviewed by his brother, Logan Paul.
“Is it true you made $90m from this fight?” Logan asked his brother in a recent episode of IMPAULSIVE.
“No, who said that? It’s not true. I made a lot of money, the most money I’ve made ever but (not $90m),” the 27-year-old responded.
Continuing on, the Internet sensation turned boxer went on to state that he would likely purchase a ranch with his recent payday.
“Probably a ranch, like a big piece of property and I’m gonna pimp it out,” Jake Paul added.
Jake Paul expresses disappointment in Mike Tyson’s performance
After being surprisingly slapped by the 58-year-old a day prior to their fight at the weigh-ins, ‘The Problem Child’ was expecting the ferocious version of Tyson inside the ring.
However, the fight played out relatively disappointingly, as the former undisputed heavyweight champion didn’t land anything of note, and his performance has been the subject of some criticism.
Former multiple weight boxing world champion, Terence Crawford recently slammed Tyson’s performance, claiming that he looked ‘trash’ and shouldn’t be getting so much credit.
Almost a week removed from the event, Paul has opened up about his thoughts on Tyson’s performance, expressing disappointment.
“I wish he would’ve, yeah like, put up a better fight so that I could’ve risen (to the occasion) more and done more. And like, he was surviving a bit, so. That was the only thing I didn’t like,” the 27-year-old admitted.
Tyson, though, did connect with what seemed to be a few hellacious punches, but Paul has claimed he ‘didn’t feel a thing’.
